Barend Swimming Pool

Imagine a heated indoor pool all to yourself! When you book directly with Barend Holiday Lodges you can have two hour-long slots per week to enjoy Barend Swimming Pool all to yourselves. Guests staying 5 nights or less can pre-book one private slot in advance.

Beautifully refurbished, the air temperature in the pool is now even warmer, and with water temperatures of 28-30 degrees, Barend Swimming Pool is the perfect place to bring your wee ones for a swim, or maybe come and soak your muscles after a day out.

Pool Closure November 2025

As we continue to invest in our facilities, we now have confirmed dates for the replacement of the pool liner: 1st – 15th November 2025. The exact reopening date may be a little earlier or later if reheating the pool takes a little longer or we find other work as we take out the old liner.  We will keep guests and locals informed on our facebook page. Thank you for your understanding as we continue to invest in our facilities.

Please note we do not therefore anticipate a closure during January 2026

Splash our with family and friends!

If you book more than one holiday home with us, you can join up and come for a big group swim. You get 2 slots per property per week, so you may wish to combine them to get even more swimming!

We have recently begun open multi-group swimming sessions again.  These are great if you don’t want to pre-plan as much, fancy a last minute swim and don’t mind sharing with other people.  We’ve put lockers in so that you can keep valuables safe.  To find out more about our multi-group swim sessions and when they’re on, see here.

Local Membership

Do you live within DG5 and / or a ten mile radius of Barend?  Looking for a warm, clean, private pool to swim in?  We have the answer!

Locals can join our swimming pool as either Gold or Bronze members (please note that we don’t accept other holiday rental owners, and people living on Barend must take up a Gold membership if they wish to join). As a local member you get private access to the pool, and can join our multi-group swims as well.

Please note that when you sign up, it will automatically set your membership to renew each year – you can change this if you don’t want it to. Thank you!

Opening Times

The pool is open 9.00am – 9.00pm Monday to Saturday and 9.00am – 9.00pm Sundays.

We try to keep closing times for maintenance and upgrades to a minimum and plan them for the quietest time of year (generally January).  For the winter of 2025-2026 we are planning a major investment: replacing the pool liner.  This is scheduled for the 1st – 15th November 2025, though the exact reopening date may be a little earlier or later if reheating the pool takes a little longer or we find other work as we take out the old liner.  We will keep guests and locals informed on our facebook page. Thank you for your understanding as we continue to invest in our facilities.

Please note we do not therefore anticipate a closure during January 2026, and will instead close for 1-2 weeks in November.

Please note that the pool does not have a lifeguard and use of the pool is subject to guests agreeing to the following Conditions of Use: Conditions of Pool Use.
